Tibia Adventures in Music presents the Next Level Recorder Retreat with Tish Berlin and Frances Blaker. The Next Level Recorder Retreat is a workshop aimed toward recorder players at intermediate level and above who want to immerse themselves in technique, special topic classes, and consort sessions that will help them improve their playing skills and musicianship. Our aim is to provide the tools you need to play music expressively, with facility and passion.

The Next Level Recorder Retreat 2025 will take place at The Bishop’s Ranch just outside of Healdsburg California in the beautiful rolling hills of Sonoma County, part of California’s wine country. The nearest airport to Healdsburg is Santa Rosa (STS) Airport which is 7.8 miles away. Other nearby airports include Sacramento (SMF) (69.9 miles), Oakland (OAK) (72 miles), San Francisco (SFO) (74 miles) and San Jose (SJC) (100.5 miles). Arrive in time for dinner on Sunday and leave at 11 am on Friday before lunch.

The Old Avoca Schoolhouse in Avoca, Nebraska will be streaming three on line  "I’m in the Mood for Modes Penny Whistle Workshops"
for penny whistlers with a D whistle

Each of the 7 music modes evoke a different mood and offers the player opportunities to explore unique melodic pathways.  A better understanding of modes can help us appreciate what a 6 hole whistle is capable of.

The Highland Park Recorder Society is offering a Consort Studio in central New Jersey, monthly sessions in ensemble playing for intermediate and above recorder players to play with one another and other instruments under a skilled conductor, with professional accompaniment.

Music Director Steven Russell will lead a “Consort Studio” ensemble of recorder players in an exploration of Baroque Trio Sonatas through rehearsal, instruction and demonstration and end with the players opportunity to play solo alto with a professional ensemble of harpsichord and violin, flute, or oboe depending on the music. Focusing on ensemble skills, this will take place in a welcoming, intimate environment that encourages people to feel comfortable to get up and play. We will have opportunities to warm up on Renaissance music with SATB recorders, so bring all sizes.
