FREE Online Recorder Class for Beginners with Vicki Boeckman (alto recorder)
3/16/2021 - 3/26/2021

Event Description
ARS introduces a Free Online Beginners’ Course! If you have never played the recorder before, or if it has been eons since you have played and you would like to learn (or refresh) the alto recorder, this is the course for you!  Learn recorder basics while laying a foundation for good technique with a four-session Zoom course for beginning-level players. Professional recorder player and teacher Vicki Boeckman will cover the basics of breath control, tone production, hand and finger positions, and articulation patterns with the intent of helping you build a foundational tool kit that will fuel your recorder-playing journey even after completion of the course. Alto recorder required.

Dates:
Tuesday, March 16, 11 a.m. PDT (2 p.m. EDT, 1 p.m. CDT, 12 noon MDT)

Tuesday, March 23, 11 a.m. PDT (2 p.m. EDT, 1 p.m. CDT, 12 noon MDT)
Friday, March 26, 11 a.m. PDT (2 p.m. EDT, 1 p.m. CDT, 12 noon MDT)

All materials will be provided except for the recorder.

If you need to purchase an alto recorder Vicki highly recommends a good plastic recorder. Even if you have an old wooden recorder that belonged to a beloved relative, please know that a good plastic recorder (with a curved windway) can actually sound better and be much more satisfying than a poor wooden one! Yamaha, Aulos, and Zen-On all make very good plastic recorders.
