Composition -
Requiem Aeternam

S/A A T B

This is adapted from the original for SATB choir (alas no dynamics). I left in the lyrics so the structure of the piece is clearer. With a good quality alto, the soprano line could perhaps be better played as alto up one octave.

Part of a larger original choral work, this SATB recorder arrangement is lush, sonorous and easy for a no-stress playing experience for players of all levels. Beautiful independent lines and the Latin text underlay look back to the sacred motets of the Renaissance, with occasional updated chords just modern enough to remind us it was composed recently. The soprano part sits comfortably in the center of the instrument for the most part, but can go down into the lower part of the range- the composer suggests that part can be played on an alto reading up the octave (always a skill worth cultivating!), just keep in mind high F appears several times. The text of the prayer in Latin and an English translation are provided.
