Capriccio for Recorder Quartet is a light lively work for SAAB recorders. Its upbeat character makes it a good opening or closing piece for a concert or recital.

This amazingly fun piece will be the star of the concert! Every part is a blast to play and even more fun when the ensemble locks in together. At its core this is an easy piece, a lively conversation with some scales and rhythmic interest in all parts; the technical expectations that push it into the “challenging” category center around keeping the tempo up while navigating 16th-note figures, lots of hocket-y banter, and some key changes. The tight interplay between the parts are helpfully marked “Lead”, “Soli”, and “ord.” (= ordinary) so players know when they are in the foreground or background. Once you start working on this piece you will want to play it again and again.
