David Goldstein (1918 – 2003) was a very popular and prolific composer of music for recorders, and “In Memory of Andrew” is one of his many unpublished works. David was the 2003 recipient of the ARS Presidential Special Honor Award, which he received just before his death that same year (see AR September 2003). “In Memory of Andrew” was written for Andrew Acs after Andrew’s untimely death at a young age, and incorporates several Hungarian-Jewish folk melodies, reflecting Andrew’s heritage.
