Originally for violin and piano first published in 1924, this arrangement for recorders cleverly distributes the violin melody between the top two lines with occasional octave adjustments. The higher version for SATB is in the original key of E-flat major, while the lower setting for ATBCb is transposed up to G major. The flats in the higher setting may initially be problematic for intermediate players, but with a little practice they will fall under the fingers nicely. The modern harmonies are a departure from Classical sounds, and would add new interest to any concert program.
