Seven German Folksongs
By Anthony St. Pierre August 2021

A A

This selection of German folk songs was drawn from those that Brahms set for voice and piano, and published in 1894. Lying between low F and top Eb, these six easy settings for two alto recorders are suitable for players approaching the end of an introductory method book, and are good sight reading material for more advanced players. By turns, each part carries the melody. Duration: 7:55

Based on easy folk song melodies, these duos for 2 altos raise the difficulty level up just a notch or so from “easy”. Occasional short 16th-note flourishes, some accidentals and fun new harmonies, make these 7 duos a joy to play. The composer/arranger has provided a page of performance notes to help new players who are progressing through their first year get up to speed.
-- Glen Shannon

The composer has provided a play-along recording. Notes are included with the score.
