These two Airs were composed in the style of an earlier period. My primary objective was to be tuneful and to make the music accessible to the most modest of playing techniques. After a time, the absorption of the Irish musical idiom seems to insist upon an outlet for expression in various fragmentary mixtures. It also helps to have Irish ancestors and a bit of humor.
