Marcel Dupré’s opus 45 organ settings of Gregorian plainchant (1958) inspired these three trios based on Eucharistic plainchant hymns: 'Tantum Ergo' (Therefore, so greatly [we revere the sacrament]), 'Ave Verum Corpus' (Hail True Body), and 'O Salutaris Hostia' (O Saving Victim). Duration: 6'15"
-- Anthony St. Pierre
Three beautiful and very approachable original trios based on Gregorian chant. The slow pace and easy key signatures make for a lush feast of recorder sound without much technical complication getting in the way, though occasional accidentals appear. The first hymn is longer and has separate parts, while the other two are score only.
