Ronde VII: Il estoit une fillette

Ronde VII is minimally reworked version of “Il estoit une fillette,” a chanson by Clément Janequin. The charming tune is exactly the same here in the soprano part and the setting is more strictly homophonic than the model. The subject of the song is a young woman’s first sexual encounter. (It’s consensual, by the way.)
