The Barn at Evening imagines an old barn that still entertains friends as they gather to dance and to tell old stories that get more tense at each telling. This composition is meant to be played energetically and expressively.

An easy and relaxing solo for alto recorder, with chords provided for a friend on guitar or piano (or harp!). Lots of low F's keep the piece grounded, and it never goes above the upper Bb. Players should let the music speak to them in phrasing, mood and intensity, with no single interpretation being "correct". This piece will have as many meanings as there are players exploring it.
