Owls in the Cemetery
By Jamie Allen 2021

Third installment in the "Providence Raptors" series.  Swan Point Cemetery is not only one of the most beautiful spots in Providence, it is also an impressive bird sanctuary, where more than 150 species have been reported. In the more forested section, both Great Horned Owls (with their lemon-yellow eyes) and adorable, diminutive Eastern Screech Owls take advantage of cavities found in dead trees to roost and nest. This trio evokes the sounds and sensibilities of these magnificent creatures.

Technical note: the flutter tonguing in this piece should be as gentle as possible without losing tone.
