The Highland Park Recorder Society’s (New Jersey, US) will launch its 2021-2022 seminar series on Monday, October 18th at 7:30 PM to 9:00 PM Eastern Time (NYC time), with a “Meet and Greet” at 7:15 PM and Q/A from 9:00 to 9:15 PM. Our presenter, recorder player, harpsichordist, and conductor Lewis R. Baratz will take us through key components of building a rock-solid recorder technique: Posture and holding the recorder; basic breath/blowing technique; finger and wrist technique; thumb technique; low notes (including chromatics); the middle register; high notes; alternative fingerings; trill fingerings; and mid-range chromatic notes. We will examine passages from the 17th-century, as well as from Handel and Telemann, to demonstrate the practical application of solid technique. This seminar is geared towards beginner, advanced beginner, and intermediate players. For more information and to register, please visit https://hprecorder.org/events/2021-2022.
