Event Type(s):
Online Event

Description:
As part of MBM's Summer Chamber Music Workshop, Lisette Kielson leads this online Zoom session “Greensleeves to a Ground: Group Play, One at a Time!”

We will explore this popular ‘theme and variations’ and get a sense of how the English composed divisions in the 17th century. And then we’ll play it!

Choose 1 or more variations based on range, level of difficulty, etc. Phrases may be repeated any number of times, or left out entirely. Feel free to add your own divisions!

For players of SAT recorders, flute, oboe, and violin (bass recorders, viols, cellos, and bassoons, too) at A=440. Based on the Anonymous D Minor version in The Division Flute, music for treble recorder can be found online at: https://imslp.org/wiki/Greensleeves_to_a_Ground_(Anonymous). Also, Lisette can offer an adapted portion for ST recorder players.

Lisette will send out the performance order by July 27th, so you’ll know when to play. And bass instruments, feel free to play along on the ground bass (w/ your microphone on mute!).

Join in, and be a part of the whole!
