This introduction to music theory is great for those new to recorder (or ANY instrument, for that matter!), or for those who feel like you've missed some very important bits of information along the way.  This first four-week series is a very basic introduction and will help get you up to speed for future music theory offerings.

Music Theory—The Ground Floor
Rules, rules, rules! Good music theory skills give us the “why” and the “how” behind music compositions.Knowing more about the way music is written and harmonized can help us understand the structure and vocabulary of the art.Best of all, this improved knowledge can help you sightread better!
 
This four-week course is $70. All written materials will be provided as PDF files, some of which may need to be printed before class sessions.(Minimum 8 participants per class.  If a class does not fill, a full refund will be issued.)
 
Required materials:
  1. Music stand
  2. A recorder (or other non-transposing instrument—inquire if you have questions)
  3. Good computer headphones or speakers
  4. Pencils with erasers
  5. A desk or small table to use for writing assignments
  6. Not required, but a piano keyboard (even a small, inexpensive one) can be helpful
