Event Description
On Friday, May 8, the New York Recorder Guild will present a pop-up performance in the Musical Instruments Galleries of The Metropolitan Museum of Art. Centered on Renaissance and early Baroque repertoire, the program traces the recorder's rich expressive range through vocal transcriptions, dances, and consort works, illuminating the instrument's central role in early European music-making. Performers include Nancy Hathaway, David Hurd, Matthew Lyons, Romes Silva, Anna Marie Spallina, and Deborah Weatherbee. The museum stays open till 9:00 p.m. So come enjoy the music, stroll through the galleries, and enjoy two-for-one drink specials in one of the museum's cafes.
