Workshop Leader: Anne Timberlake

Anne Timberlake has performed in 34 states playing repertoire from across the last millennium. She grew up in early music, beginning her studies as part of Indiana University’s Pre-College Recorder Program, and later earned degrees in recorder performance from Oberlin Conservatory and Indiana University.  Her teachers have included Eva Legene, Alison Melville, and Han Tol.  Critics have praised Anne’s "fine technique and stylishness," "unexpectedly rich lyricism" (Letter V), and "dazzling playing" (Chicago Classical Review).

Anne is a passionate and prolific teacher. In addition to teaching private, group, and online recorder lessons, Anne has led hundreds of recorder workshops across the United States.  Faculty engagements have included Oberlin Conservatory’s Baroque Performance Institute, Indiana University's Pre-College Recorder Program, the San Francisco Early Music Society, the Amherst Early Music Festival, Virginia Baroque Academy, Mountain Collegium, Mideast, Pinewoods Early Music Week, and numerous American Recorder Society chapters.  Anne lives with her husband and two children in St. Louis, MO.

Anne’s description of the Play Day: “Morning, Noon, and Night. Are you a morning person? Are you a morning person after six cups of coffee? Do you hate morning with the fiery passion of a thousand suns? Larks and owls are equally welcome in this full-day workshop. We’ll explore music about morning and music about night, tracing the sun’s path across the centuries.”

The Play Day schedule will include four sessions, all of which will be a grand consort of all attendees. The workshop is targeted at intermediate to advanced players, but all are welcome. Viol players are also welcome. Tuning will be A=440Hz. Remember to bring a music stand.

Schedule:
-  8:30 -  9:00 - Registration and Setup
-  9:00 - 10:30 - Session 1
- 10:30 - 10:45 - Break
- 10:45 - 12:00 - Session 2
- 12:00 - 1:00 - Lunch
-  1:00 -  2:15 - Session 3
-  2:15 - 2:30 - Break
-  2:30 -  4:00 - Session 4

Lunch will be from noon to 1:00 PM – you are welcome to bring your own sack lunch. Coffee, tea, juice, and snacks will be provided for breaks.

Registration: $50. Registration form will be available February 1, 2025.
Registration deadline: Thursday, February 20, 2025.

All meetings this season will be held at St. Michael and All Angels Episcopal Church location.
