From Music Director Rainer Beckmann:
Dear Friends,
The playlist of the July make-up session mainly consists of 16th century motets written by some of the time's leading composers. These sacred vocal pieces are juxtaposed with a variety of popular dances from Susato's Danserye collection, first published in 1551, which frame the playlist. You will note that a number of the instrumentations selected for the pieces on the playlist rely heavily on lower recorders, including great basses and contrabasses. Please be so kind and make sure to bring all your big recorders to the session! We will be aiming for as rich a sound as possible when delving into these two distinct and beautiful repertoires together.
With warmest regards,
Rainer Beckman
