Event Description
The American Recorder Society Presents a Free Beginners' Recorder Class with Sarah Cantor. Sarah is a professional recorder player who enjoys making music with musicians of all levels and ages. How can we use our breath, tongues and fingers to serve the music? She is looking forward to exploring the recorder together and connecting through music.
For this class, you will need either a Soprano or Tenor recorder. Any printed materials needed for the class will be emailed a few days before the first class.

A message from Sarah:
I am looking forward to playing together in the American Recorder Society Beginner class! I recommend that you put a thumb rest on your soprano or tenor recorder. In the class I can go over how to position it. You can buy a cheap plastic one from the Von Huene shop (link below). You can also make one yourself out of beeswax. It is easy to come by at a sewing store, natural foods store, farmers market or on line. I take a garlic clove (can’t think of another measurement) size piece off, warm it up and put it on the recorder.
