“Arioso” and the solo version of “Jazzy Rondo” are intended to close a gap in the solo recorder literature. While most commercially available compositions for unaccompanied recorder are geared towards professional or advanced amateur players, These two little pieces are intended for intermediate (ARS Level II) players. “Arioso” should be performed first, followed immediately by “Jazzy Rondo.” The duet version of “Jazzy Rondo,” has been transposed up a whole tone to a key more suitable for the bass recorder.

While preparing this Edition I was thoroughly taken by the snappy melody of the Jazzy Rondo — be careful, or you’ll find yourself humming it all day long.
