Composition -
Sweet was the Song
By Anthony St. Pierre October 2008

S A T B

This Christmas lute song might well have been entitled ['Too Short] and Sweet was the Song.' At the end, one is always ready for another verse. By way of a remedy, I have composed a somewhat anachronistic version that might be appended. (The original is included at the end of the score.) Duration (variant only): 1:45

The Baltimore Consort performs the original, here on YouTube.

A beautiful and occasionally surprising arrangement of a lute song from the early 17th century. Harmonic twists and other fun little gems make this easy and approachable piece a bit more tasty, and the ensemble demands are easy as well. Look for the serene repeat of the final chord at the very end to close out the piece.
