Greetings from the Ann Arbor Recorder Society!  We’d like to invite you to attend our April 5 meeting, which will be held on Zoom from 7:30-9:00pm.  The meeting will be led by Annette Bauer, who will join us from Montreal. We were able to hire Annette thanks to a generous 'virtual session' grant from the American Recorder Society.

Theme:  Spring has sprung: a spring flower bouquet of music!

Since our playing session falls on Easter Monday, Annette has chosen pieces related to spring, Easter, nature’s rebirth after winter, and the songs of birds. A fresh spring bouquet of music by composers such as Landini, Josquin, Lassus, Walsh, and from the late 16th century Finnish song book Piae Cantiones.

The Denver Recorder Society continues their 2020-21 virtual season (third Sunday of every month) on Sunday, April 18, 2021, from at 2-3:30 PM MST. Professional recorder player Jennifer Carpenter will lead this chapter meeting on Zoom, preceded by the chapter's "newbies" session for less-experienced players. All are welcome.

Professional recorder player Jennifer Carpenter performs and teaches regularly throughout the southwest. A resident of Colorado Springs, CO, she is a member of the Parish House Baroque Ensemble and the duo Byrd on a Wire. Jennifer enjoys teaching as much as performing. In addition to teaching private lessons, both in person and online, she has been on the faculty of early music workshops in TX, CA, NM, CO, and AZ. Her enthusiasm for working with amateur recorder players led her to serve on the Board of Directors of the American Recorder Society for eight years.

We are pleased to announce open enrollment for the annual San Francisco Recorder Society workshop on Sunday, April 25, 2021. Conductors Rotem Gilbert and Hanneke van Proosdij will present "Confluence" - a beautiful program curated for recorders and other 'soft' instruments - featuring a luscious variety of music by Gilles Binchois, Guillaume de Machaut, Magister Egidus, Francesco Landini, Henry Purcell, Johann Schop and Benjamin Thorn.

The first half of the workshop will offer sessions for intermediate and advanced players with each conductor. Participants may self-select which group they prefer to be in and are allowed to switch if they wish. After a break, there will be a "tutti" session for all levels. Registrants may choose to participate in the full workshop (all sessions - $40), or a half workshop (either the morning groups OR the tutti session - $25).

Dear Teachers: We invite you to share this workshop invitation with your students. Some scholarships are available and we are happy to consider requests on the basis of need.

Registrations will be acknowledged upon receipt. The Zoom link and all music will be provided by email to registrants several days before the event. The conductors will show the music on-screen. However, we have found that in this online setting it is more satisfying to have your own copy available, whether in print on or your own screen/tablet.

We are very excited about this day of music and hope to hear from you very soon! Enrollment is limited to 60 participants, so please register as early as possible.
