“Virginia Notes: 1619” brings together music from the English tradition with Virginia history to examine the first meeting of the Virginia General Assembly (1619). Forgotten Clefs, Renaissance Wind Ensemble, teams up with Historian Dr. Christine A. Anderson (Maggie Walker School) to explore music, history, and culture in the early seventeenth century. You'll hear Renaissance instruments: shawms, recorders, dulcians, sackbuts, pipe & tabor, and more. Join us for this unique look back at this 400 year-old moment in Virginia and the nation's history. This program has been funded in part by a grant from Virginia Humanities.
