Class Online Event
Description:
Friends, my early music topics for recorder players series, sponsored by the Highland Park (NJ) recorder society, continues on January 11th at 7:30 PM EST (NYC time) with “Playing 17th-century Italian Music.” We will explore the historical and cultural aspects of music in the Italian peninsula at the beginning of the 17th century and the development of the style we now call the “transitional era” or “early Italian Baroque.” We will also examine selected repertory (G. B. Riccio, G. B. Fontana, and D. Castello, et al.) as a group and learn how to approach some of the technical and interpretive challenges of this glorious music.
