The 17th Annual Mid-Winter Workshop with early and newer Music for Voices, Recorders, Brass and Viols and other early instruments.

January 24th - 26th, 2020.

Faculty: Jack Ashworth (viols, recorders), Stewart Carter (loud band, recorders), Phil Hollar (recorders, capped reeds), Holly Maurer (recorders, viols), Jody Miller (recorders, loud band, Renaissance flutes), and Anne Timberlake (recorders).

Workshop Format: The Mid-Winter Music Workshop will begin Friday evening and will end Sunday at noon. Participants will be able to choose their Saturday classes from a list of topic-based offerings. Friday evening and Sunday morning are full group playing sessions.

Dates and times: The workshop will start on Friday, January 24, 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., with an informal, full group session, directed by members of the ARS-Atlanta. Featured: Some favorite music of our ARS Chapter. Theme-based classes with our faculty will meet Saturday, January 25 from 9:30 a.m. through 6:00 p.m. The workshop will conclude Sunday, January 26 with a faculty-led, full group playing session from 9:30 a.m. through noon.

Location: McCleskey Middle School (25 miles north of downtown Atlanta) 4080 Maybreeze Rd Marietta, GA 30066

Hotel: A block of 15 rooms has been reserved for $79/room ($93.92 "inclusive" rate) at the Microtel Inn & Suites Woodstock Atlanta (30 Molly Lane; Woodstock, GA 30189; 678-738-0001) for group "Atlanta Early Music Alliance". However, we noticed that it was possible to find better rates on-line. Feel free to reserve at a better rate -- it won't hurt our feelings and it won't cost us anything. The room block will be released January 4.

Participants: Participants should be at least 14 years of age, unless recommended by a music teacher in writing. You should have intermediate or advanced ability with your instruments. All early instruments are welcome on Friday, Saturday late afternoon, and Sunday.
Please note that singers, as before, are invited to participate in Voices and Viols on Saturday late afternoon.

Tuition: Before November 30th: General: $150; Members of AEMA and ARS: $125; Singers: $25 (members $10). Scholarships: $25. After Nov. 30th a late fee of $20 will be applied. Your primary choices of sessions may then also be limited.

You'll find information, faculty biographies, class listings, and the on-line registration page at https://atlema.org
