No matter where you are in your recorder playing journey, Recorder Players West (RPW) is the right place for you! Are you looking to improve your skills (fingers, tongue, breath, rhythm, etc.) or to have the chance to play with others? Whatever your goal might be, our classes cater to different skill levels, ranging from pre-intermediate to advanced, and you will surely fit right in.

This session will be a blended on-line and in-person experience for the intermediate and advanced classes! Yes, local people will be able to come to St. Bede’s Episcopal Church for in-person classes, and on-line people will be able to join via Zoom! (The pre-intermediate class will remain on-line only.) St. Bede’s Episcopal Church is at 3590 Grand View Blvd., West Los Angeles, two blocks west of the 405 freeway and one block north of Venice Blvd. at the corner of Grand View and Charnock. There is plenty of free parking.

Our wonderful instructor is a professional recorder player (Inga Funck) – guaranteeing a gratifying musical experience! She always manages to make classes fun while helping each student to grow as musician. She exposes students to a rich body of repertoire from different centuries, styles, and countries. Inga has played with members of the LA Phil at the Disney Hall and is an experienced teacher. Outside of Recorder Players West, she is offering private lessons as well as other classes independent of RPW.

Schedule and cost: Newcomers who have not yet been to an RPW class with Inga will be given one free class before they have to decide whether or not to join. Please note that the class times have changed from last semester.
Pre-Intermediate Class Thursdays, 12 noon to 1:00 pm PDT (class dates: March 2, 9, 16, 23, 30, April 12, 19, and 26) online only (Note: this class 60 minutes)
Intermediate Class Wednesdays, 12 noon to 1:30 pm PST (class dates: March 1, 8, 15, 22, 29, April 12 and 19) at St. Bede’s or on-line (Note: this class is 90 minutes)
Advanced Class Wednesdays, 2:00 pm to 3:30 pm PDT (class dates: March 1, 8, 15, 22, 29, April 12, 19, and 26) at St. Bede’s or on-line (Note: this class is 90 minutes)

The tuition for the Spring 2023 classes is $180 for the intermediate and advanced classes (or $157.50 if you are brand-new to Recorder Players West and are making use of the first free class). For the pre-intermediate class, the tuition is $150 (or $131.25 for brand-new players making use of the first free class).

Please make sure to include your best email address so that we can send you the Zoom link and the music before the classes begin. Scholarships and Donations to the Scholarship Fund: A limited number of tuition scholarships are available. To apply, please contact Suellen Eslinger. To donate to our tuition scholarship fund, please add the donation to your tuition check or pay by separate check.
