Courante, a baroque chamber ensemble from Cape Cod, MA, will present “Music for a While” featuring soprano Joan Kirchner, Sunday November 20 at 34:00PM, at Church of the Messiah, 22 Curch St., Woods Hole, MA.
This program features songs and dances by Henry Purcell, corrente by Giovanni Battista Buonamente, songs from Claudio Monteverdi’s Scherzi Musicali, and cantatas by Georg Philipp Telemann and Antonio Caldara. It showcases Cape Cod’s premier soprano Joan Kirchner, accompanied by the instrumentalists of Courante. The unpublished and little-known Caldara cantata “Innocente cor mio” was transcribed and edited from manuscript by Molly Johnston as her pandemic project.
Members of Courante include Jan Elliott, recorder, David Gable, violin, Molly Johnston, viola da gamba, and Brittany Lord, harpsichord.
