On the day following each seminar we ask participants to evaluate the experience and comment on Lewis as presenter. Some responses on our most recent seminar were:
  • Dr. Lewis Baratz's presentation was technically perfect and amazingly clear. The most striking was the ability to simultaneously address practically all aspects of recorder playing from technical problems to music understanding and interpretation. It requires great knowledge, experience and teaching skills to present very complicated topics in such a way that they become amazingly simple. In addition, the presentation was very pleasurable and fun to follow.
  • Lewis was enthusiastic about Telemann's music and made his music approachable by breaking it down into understandable elements and making us feel the pulse of each piece. He is quite down to earth as well as a scholar of this music and was upfront about the limitations of recorder instruments and how one must work to create the proper tone.
  • Lewis Baratz's knowledge of Baroque music history is impressive. His brief introductory lecture on to Telemann gave just enough background for this hands-on workshop.
  • Dr. Baratz is a very good presenter. He is able to convey his ideas clearly, engagingly and is very knowledgeable.
  • Excellent combination of didactic slides and musical examples
  • His presenting is outstanding
