Description:The concert, in homage to the wonderful venue we are performing at is titled Country Gardens: Music inspired by Plants and Flowers, Birds and Beasts and other diverse tunes and features TTT’s mix of music old new and new, written and improvised.

The concert title comes from the delightful Morris Dance, Country Gardens that achieved great popularity in a piano arrangement by the composer/pianist/musicologist, Percy Grainger. Grainger also arranged the tune and other traditional English dances he had collected for 2 recorders. . We will open the program with this tune followed by fantasias  the Thomas Morley. The world of Elizabethan music is echoed in Tom Bickley’s setting of the tune Browning or The Leaves Be Green.

The collection Les Fleurs by the gallant composer Philbert Delavigne allows us to harvest a bouquet of flower named French baroque dances. His contemporary Michel Pignolet de Montéclair (1667-1737) provides us with musical portraits of a Butterfly, Fly and a very ornate Ramages or Dawn Chorus.

The concert will also include Aki by the Japanese composer Ryohei Hirose who has the following to say about the work. "The Japanese title means "autumn" and the composition captures the inner landscape of autumn of Japan such as of pantheistic animism of plants and birds, mystic dialogues, lament, meditative introspection, rich transparent air, tender love for nature, a scene of carnage, violent cry..."

The concert will also include 14th century Italian madrigals by Giovanni da Cascia and Gherardello da Firenze along with works by Erik Satie, Frans Geysen, Jacob Van Eyck and Pete Rose.
